Self-Compassion

All close relationships are a work in progress…especially the one with ourselves

Some aspects can be improved seamlessly, but some aspects can be extremely challenging to manage on your own.

As your therapist, I can help you work on accepting yourself, just as you are. We can work together to resolve specific issues, improve trust and understanding, and work on the ways we communicate with ourselves.

I also can help you to start listening to your body more, as the messages it relays to us are extremely important. If we ignore the messages there can be negative effects to the whole body such as autoimmune disorders, stress responses (allergies, rashes, hives), anxiety, digestive issues, sleep difficulties and the list goes on.

Some specific examples of goals we can work on with self-compassion therapy include:

  • Learn how to take care of yourself-heart, body, and mind.
  • Learn how to have confidence in your personal talents, skills, and abilities
  • Learn how to say no and set boundaries without engaging in conflict
  • Learn how to embrace your strengths while also acknowledging your flaws
  • Learn how to choose your people in your life
  • Learn how to show authentic gratitude and appreciation
  • Learn how to build up your own strength yourself
  • Learn how to treat others the way you wish to be treated
  • Learn how to use mindfulness to work with obsessive thoughts, negative self-talk, and negative coping mechanisms
  • Learn how to accept personal mistakes without judging, shutting down, or indulging in negative coping mechanisms.
